According to ANGOP, the disruption of circulation was due to heavy rains that caused the break of one of the branch bridges, a course of 322 kilometers long.

The incident took place on 28 December in the town of Olivenza, Chibia municipality, Huila province, causing the transport of about 700 passengers who use that means of transportation daily.

The Railroad of Mozambique received rehabilitation and modernization works between 2006 and 2015, carried out by a Chinese company.

Angola's rail network consists of three lines, namely the Benguela Railway, which connects the Lobito to the Luau, for a total length of 1340 kilometers, the Luanda Railway, between Baía and Malanje, 445 kilometers long, and the Mozâmedes Railway, between Namibe and Menongue, 860 kilometers long.
