"I hope that a solution will be found to strengthen Eurobic," Faria de Oliveira told reporters on the sidelines of the Banking Summit in Lisbon, a conference organised by the APB.
The president of the association that represents the banks operating in Portugal considered that the most sensible attitude today is to wait to find out if there have been irregular actions and said that recent international reports praised Portugal's performance in preventing money laundering.
"I'm hopeful that it hasn't happened, and from the indications so far known that I'm anticipating problems doesn't seem to me to be the right attitude", said the former CGD president.
