"The National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels, as the national concessionaire, the Italian operator ENI and partners announce the start of oil production at the Agogo offshore field, located in Block 15/06 in Angola, nine months after its discovery," reads a statement released this Thursday in Luanda.

The start, he adds in the note, "happened with the drilling of the Agogo-1 well at a water depth of approximately 1,700 meters, having reached a flow of about 10 thousand barrels of oil per day, with the projection of reaching 20 thousand barrels in coming months.

"It is estimated that the field contains reserves in the order of 650 million barrels of oil, with additional potential that can be verified after the drilling of new delimitation wells", is explained in the text.

Starting in the second half of 2018, ENI Angola and the partners of the contractor group (Sonangol and SSI Fifteen) launched a new research campaign in Block 15/06, leading to the discovery of five new reservoirs that, according to preliminary studies, contain about 2 billion barrels of oil, the note also states.

ENI has been present in Angola since 1980, producing around 145,000 barrels of oil per day.

ENI Angola has been the operator of Block 15/06 since 2006, with a stake of 36.84 percent, the other partners being Sonangol, with 36.84 percent, and SSI Fifteen, with 26.32 percent.
