This investment demonstrates confidence in the project's ability to transform, which goes beyond borders, he indicated, adding that the financial institution will make use of the pension fund to increase sustainability, establishing partnerships with other development banks to boost capital, writes Angop.

The official was speaking this Wednesday, at the multilateral summit on the Lobito Corridor, which took place in Benguela and brought together at the same table the Presidents of Angola, the United States of America, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Vice-President from Tanzania, João Lourenço, Joe Biden, Hakainde Hichilema, Félix Tchissekedi and Philip Mpango, respectively, among others.

According to Angop, the consortium is committed to the development of the aforementioned corridor, having been appointed as the main responsible for the development of the project, commanding construction and financing actions, whose efforts aim to make the corridor a driver of economic growth, facilitating the transport of minerals and stimulate intra-African and global trade.

Furthermore, the initiative also strengthens regional integration, as well as promoting sustainable development.

Also speaking at the summit was the president of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema. On the occasion, Hichilema highlighted the crucial relevance of the Lobito Corridor for implementing the African free trade zone.

Because of this, he considered that the development of this corridor is also relevant not only for the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) – of which Angola, Zambia, DRC and Tanzania are part – but for all countries in Africa.

"The project opens up a great opportunity for investment and trade, because it refers to infrastructure such as railways, roads or the road system, which will interconnect and communicate with the Corridor", he said, adding that through the project there will be "a fundamental change for our countries, our economies and our people".

Among other aspects, he also pointed out the fact that this corridor represents an opportunity to increase efficiency, reduce commercial distances and improve the connection of peoples and nations, as well as enabling investment in energy sources.

"This is what Africa needs so that young people, when they leave their countries to study, return and work using global capital and technologies", he considered.

Another speaker on the occasion was the president of Kobold Metals, Josh Golfman, who highlighted the relevance of the Lobito Corridor, stating that the company based in California, in the United States, is happy to establish partnerships with the countries that make up this region.

"We work every day with our partners and together we will create thousands of jobs and inter-African trade," he said, quoted by Angop.
