Health officials ban all celebrations and holiday parties

Music, dance, cultural shows, fireworks ... canceled. The traditional end-of-year parties are not going to happen at the ‘turn’ to 2021. It’s already known that the covid-19 is to blame.

It was the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, who made the expected announcement: all end-of-year parties in the country are prohibited, taking into account the health situation that Angola and the rest of the world are going through.

According to the official, who transmitted the information during the usual press conference to update data on the pandemic, the ban on these types of events aims to prevent the creation of environments conducive to the transmission of covid-19.

Franco Mufinda appealed to citizens to see the transition of the year as a date for reflection, remembering the grief and pain of many families. "Due to the new variant of covid-19, which is already plaguing some European countries, we call on families to make yet another sacrifice, with a view to safeguarding people's lives," he said, quoted by Angop.

The official made a point of warning about the seriousness of this new strain, considered more dangerous than the current one, especially for the younger ones.
