Hélder Pitta Grós, who presented his message this Tuesday on the occasion of the festive season, explained that among the assets recovered, estimated at 2.6 billion dollars, are housing properties, offices, buildings, factories, port terminals, shareholdings in companies, among others.

According to the PGR , in the plan to "fight impunity", thousands of actions were opened throughout the country, in the most diverse jurisdictions and areas of activity of the Public Ministry (MP), highlighting 1522 cases related to economic-financial crime and property.

Among the lawsuits related to economic and financial crime, we highlight the embezzlement, money laundering, undue receipt of advantages, economic participation in business, active and passive corruption and fraud for fraud.

The MP magistrate also announced that movable and immovable assets, constituted with public funds or with advantages from crime, were seized and/or seized, amounting to approximately US$ 4.2 billion, such as factories, supermarkets, buildings, real estate, residences, hotels, among others.

Hélder Pitta Grós also reported that the National Asset Recovery Service (SNRA) of the PGR requested its counterparts outside the country to seize and/or forfeit assets and money worth 5.4 billion dollars, namely in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Bermuda, among other countries.

"Aiming to strengthen the technical capacity of prosecutors, a Manual of Good Practices for Prosecutors was prepared in the Preparatory Instruction, which is in the process of adapting to the new penal codes and criminal procedure," he said.

In the area of human resource management of the OPG, he noted that the body has seen a considerable increase in magistrates in the direction of provincial bodies, with five provincial bodies and six of the central management currently run by women.

At least 70 justice auditors have completed their curricular training and stage at the National Institute of Judicial Studies (INEJ) this year and are waiting for appointments as magistrates of the MP and that "should mitigate the lack of human resources".

In the balance of activities carried out in 2020, Hélder Pitta Grós said that about 672 employees, justice technicians, of the PGR benefited from updates of their respective categories, as a result of "thorough work" with the competent bodies.

For 2021, the institution hopes to conclude the competition for the appointment of 12 new deputy attorneys general of the Republic in order to "better respond to the demands of the work at a higher level".

The OPG has promised to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with sovereign bodies and similar foreign institutions: "in an increasingly complex and globalized world, we will not succeed if we act in isolation".

In this sense, he added, 16 letters rogatory were sent to countries like the United States of America, Portugal, United Kingdom, Spain, South Africa and Namibia, "seven of which have already been fulfilled.

"We received for treatment 82 rogatory requests from Portugal, Brazil and Namibia. The Angolan Attorney General's Office has already fulfilled and returned 11 rogatory letters," he stressed.

Hélder Pitta Grós also requested the reinforcement of material means, technicians, equipment, facilities and human resources "to improve their efficiency and ensure excellence in their service to society.

On the occasion, the Angolan Attorney General's Office website was also presented with the following e-mail address: pgr.ao.
