According to the director of the Benguela General Hospital, the creation of this space aims to meet a challenge launched by the National Institute for the Fight against Drugs (INALUD), and should involve three Cuban specialists. This launch took place during the presentation of the new INALUD representative in Benguela, Wladimir Dias, who will replace Engrácia Rodrigues, who held the position for more than a decade.
"The challenge of joining the project to accommodate drug addicts was accepted", said the director, quoted by Angop.
Thus, Divane Marcolino secured at least five beds for temporary hospitalization of these patients, with a view to rapid detoxification within a minimum period of 21 days.
According to the director, the hospital's management has the same perspective as INALUD of preserving more lives and creating a healthy society. Thus, he said he hopes for greater dissemination of this initiative that seeks to rehabilitate drug addicts, writes Angop.
Sucame André, national director of INALUD, applauded the willingness of the administration of the Benguela General Hospital to provide inpatient and outpatient treatment for drug addicts.
This represents a huge challenge, as hospitals have few rooms and limited resources for this initiative, said the official, who, quoted by Angop, also thanked the provincial health office for creating the conditions for INALUD to operate.
