The First National Dialogue Workshop on OECMs (Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures) will take place on 3 and 4 December.
Promoted by the Lisima Foundation and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the workshop aims to present the concept of OECMs, analyse the national context and priorities, identify potential areas for their implementation, and define the next steps for their implementation in Angola.
Technicians from the Lisima Foundation, TNC and IUCN, government entities, civil society organisations, academia and the private sector will participate in the event.
The event will present the entry points in the legislation for OECMs, the application of the tool to identify and assess OECMs in Angola, and share experiences of similar processes that are being implemented in other African countries.
