According to the official, several activities are being developed to regularize electromobility – vehicles powered by engines powered by electricity – after the approval, last August, of the Electromobility Strategy, with public and private sector actors now missing.
Speaking at the end of the opening ceremony of the third parliamentary year of the V Legislature of the National Assembly, where President João Lourenço presented the message on the State of the Nation, Ricardo d'Abreu highlighted that the dynamics of this segment must be driven by operators.
“Therefore, we are on our side, that is, the public sector, with the measures already implemented and then the dynamics of the market itself, which should happen if our agents act. We need the private sector to also do its part”, he insisted.
The Electromobility Strategy should make it possible to massively boost the adoption of electric vehicles, replacing conventional ones, promote environmental protection and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to authorities.
Regarding the sector he oversees, whose axes were also highlighted by João Lourenço in his two-hour message, Ricardo de Abreu reaffirmed that in the air transport subsector, the entry into operation of the New Luanda International Airport, next month, aims to make of Angola an important regional hub for air connectivity.
He assured that work to achieve the aforementioned goal is being carried out: “And we will continue with full responsibility and a sense of State”, he stressed.
Ricardo d’Abreu also considered that Angola, “with many challenges ahead in various sectors, is returning to growth” and needs to guarantee the sustainability of this growth for the benefit of its citizens.
“And all sectors have a fundamental role to play in achieving this objective and the case of transport and logistics is no different, not only in facilitating the transport of people and goods, but also ensuring that there is a better organization of logistics chains, especially the part that concerns national production”, concluded the minister.
