Cuban Head of State hosted welcome dinner for João Lourenço

On Thursday night, the day before the start of the Group of 77+China Summit in Havana, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez distinguished the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, with a welcome dinner at the Presidential Palace.

It was a "notable deference towards Angola and its President", says a Government statement to which VerAngola had access, as the dinner for the invited delegations, in a group format, only takes place on Friday night .

In the headquarters building of Cuban political power - from where, for decades, the Cuban Revolution was directed by Fidel Castro - João Lourenço held a preliminary conversation with his counterpart and host, referred to the historic relations linking Angola and Cuba, received honors military personnel and participated in the dinner in their honor.

The night was also marked by a performance by a Cuban jazz group, whose members the President met and greeted, one by one, at the end of the dinner. At his side was President Díaz-Canel.

The next step in President João Lourenço's program in the Cuban capital was to witness, this Friday morning, the opening act of the Group of 77+China Summit, followed by participation in the general debate, where he was the third statesman to intervene, after the Comoros and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
