The bad conditions of the roads increase the expenses with the maintenance of the vehicles and, consequently, increase the operator's treasury, thus justifying the temporary stoppage of services, explained Armando Macedo, commercial coordinator of the transport operator, in statements to Angop.
The official also clarified that the stoppage is of a temporary nature as it should remain until there are improvements in some critical paths.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Macon – which on this route (Saurimo/Luanda) performed a daily service – interrupts services provisionally, this being the third time that the company has taken this decision, writes Angop.
The company's decision was not well received by passengers. This is the case of João António, who, speaking to Angop, considered that without this service the cost of transport to the capital will rise, taking into account the amount of 27,670 kwanzas charged for this route compared to between 35 and 45 thousand kwanzas charged. by regular taxis.
Although this suspension will cause difficulties, João António acknowledged that Macon is right to adopt this decision, as the bad condition of the roads damages the buses.
The difficulties in circulation were also pointed out by the merchant Miqueias Carlos. Cited by Angop, the passenger considered that this interruption of services will cause obstacles in his activity, since he uses this means of transport to take the products to Saurimo.
Maria Neusa, on the other hand, was surprised by the decision. She told Angop that she had her children in the capital and planned to return to Saurimo with the operator, but due to the suspension she will have to take a taxi, which charges high fees.
The passenger also took the opportunity to appeal to the Executive to speed up the rehabilitation of the EN 230 on the Saurimo/Malanje route – which started in 2020 and is expected to end in August of next year.
