The confirmation was given by Joaquim Garcia da Costa, director of the work by the Ministry of Energy and Water, in the Medium Kwanza Usage Office: "The mechanical and electrical equipment of the old plant will be used for the museum," he said.
Cited by the Jornal de Angola, the responsible made it known that a space will be created to house the history of the country's energy sector, admitting that this construction will boost tourism in the region.
Besides telling the history and achievements of Angola in the electricity sector, the plant will also continue to be responsible for the conservation of the turbines that used to generate more than eight megawatts of energy.
The dam began to be built by the former Companhia de Diamantes de Angola in 1950. However, it did not come into operation until 1957.
This plant was responsible for lighting the municipalities of Cambulo and Lucapa as well as the localities of Fucauma, Cassanguidi, Luxilo, N'zagi, Cossa and Calonda.
