A press release, released this Wednesday, states that defendants have been constituted so far, an employee of Imogestin - Benguela (entity that promotes and manages the centralities), two teachers, an employee of the municipal administration of Lobito, an employee of an oil company, an employee of the District Court of Benguela and two employees of the provincial directorate of Benguela of the National Housing Institute, one of them head of provincial department.
The list of defendants also includes three Benguela provincial government employees, namely an advisor for the social area, an official from the media office, a protocol officer, and six staff from Lobito's Criminal Investigation Service (SIC).
The document stresses that citizens have been charged with crimes of concussion (extortion by public officials), theft, fraud for fraud, criminal association, trafficking in stolen goods and other property, misappropriation of advantages, active and passive corruption, and influence peddling.
After questioning the group, the judicial authorities decided to apply the preventive custody measure to 11 citizens, including the court official, the official of the National Housing Institute and the SIC staff.
