Malanje ready to make reality 'Casa-Museu Doutor António Agostinho Neto'

Agostinho Neto's residence in Malanje could even be turned into a museum. The intention, previously reiterated, has now been advanced by the vice governor of the province for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Domingos Eduardo.

The official said that this would be a tribute to the first President of Angola, as the founder of the nation, as well as a way to preserve the dignity of the residence, giving it a new lease of life.

The 'Casa-Museu Doutor António Agostinho Neto' would thus be located on Rua 15 de Agosto, in Malanje, where the former President lived in the years 1944 and 1945, when he worked in the region's hospital.

Without needing dates for the execution of this project, Domingos Eduardo revived this idea, already discussed in the country, at the opening of the days of the Provincial Youth Council (CPJ), where the National Hero Day will be celebrated, on 17 September.

According to ANGOP, the deputy governor highlighted the importance of Malanje in the life of Agostinho Neto, stressing that it was the last province in the country he visited before he died.

It was also in Malanje that Agostinho Neto spoke some of his most famous phrases such as: "The most important thing is to solve the people's problems" or "The revolution will continue, the revolution will triumph".

Next year we will celebrate the centenary of the birth of Agostinho Neto, on September 17, 2022.
