One hundred young Angolans benefit from scholarships for tourism training

The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Government and the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) will allow the award of 100 scholarships for online training in the tourism sector to young Angolan people and staff.

According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the memorandum, which was signed this Wednesday, "marks a decisive step towards the training of professionals and the sustainable development of the national tourism sector."

"Among the signed instruments, the awarding of 100 scholarships for online training in the tourism sector stands out, aimed at young Angolans and professionals," the statement reads, adding that this initiative aims to "strengthen national technical skills, promote a new generation of qualified professionals, and boost tourism's role as a driver of economic growth and social transformation."

According to the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, human resource training "is one of the foundations for consolidating tourism as a strategic sector."

"Human resource training is one of the foundations for consolidating tourism as a strategic sector, integrated into Angola's economic diversification and inclusive development agenda," said Márcio Daniel, emphasizing the "importance of the partnership with UN Tourism."

Signed by the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, and the Secretary-General of UN Tourism, Zurab Pololikashvili, at the official opening ceremony of the 2nd Ministerial Conference of UN Tourism and ICAO on Tourism and Air Transport in Africa, taking place in Luanda until this Thursday, the memorandum "is part of a broader vision of institutional strengthening and the creation of concrete opportunities for citizens, through a more modern, competitive and sustainable tourism sector".
