In a brief statement that VerAngola had access to, the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB) lamented the defeat, highlighting Angola's inability to advance in the competition.
"The victory against Cameroon was not possible. The final score was 85-64, in favor of the opponents, preventing Angola from advancing in the competition," the statement read.
Angola failed to win any of the four quarters. In the first quarter, the team was already trailing by seven points (27-20), and the match went into halftime with Angola trailing 44-32.
In the third quarter, Angola was trailing by 20 points (68-48), and the fourth and final quarter of the match ultimately led to the team's defeat (85-64).
For Angola, Sara Caetano led the way with 19 points. She also had seven rebounds and an assist.
The team's second-highest scorer was Italee Lucas: 14 points, three rebounds, and seven assists.
With this result, Angola is out of Afrobasket 2025, which is taking place in Ivory Coast.
The team also lost its other two matches in the competition. The first was against Egypt, which they lost 70-54, and the second was against Ivory Coast, which they lost 82-74.
