ANPG and ExxonMobil Angola, "as the Operator and representing the partners of Block 15, today [Thursday] inaugurate a multipurpose sports pavilion at the S. José Freinademetz Primary and Secondary School in Panguila, Caxito, Bengo province," a statement sent to VerAngola said.
According to the statement, the pavilion, budgeted at 350,000 dollars, will provide the 1500 primary and secondary school students of Panguila and members of the neighboring communities with "modern facilities and equipment to encourage the practice of sports.
Melissa Bond, General Manager of ExxonMobil Angola, quoted in the note, explained that ANPG, ExxonMobil and the Bloco 15 partners "recognize the importance of sports and physical education in the lives of school children, for their general well-being and health."
"Sports practice develops skills in young adults, such as the ability to respect rules, teamwork, resilience and perseverance, which are key skills for personal development and future employment," she added.
The responsible also made known that the entities are proud "of the investment made in the construction" of the pavilion, hoping that this will contribute to "train and educate healthy young people.
The statement also reveals that the "Panguila School project dates back to 2016 when it was also funded by the Block 15 in an investment of $400,000. Supervised by the Catholic Missionary Congregation of the Divine Word, the initiative integrated the "construction of ten classrooms, administrative area, meeting rooms and bathrooms.
"For greater sustainability and continuity of the project, Block 15 also invested in remodeling the facilities of the classrooms to accommodate a school library, equipped with books, teaching and multimedia equipment, as a way to contribute to improving the quality and methods of primary and secondary education in Panguila," the note adds.
