According to a State Department note, Pyatt arrives in Luanda on Wednesday, after participating in Berlin at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC), for the third US-Angola Energy Security Dialogue (ESD), resulting from the meeting of the North American President, Joe Biden, with President João Lourenço, last year.

The Energy Security Dialogue between the US and Angola focuses on secure and stable energy supplies and deepening commercial ties, and follows visits from Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, USAID Administrator, Samantha Power, Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Verma, and the President of EXIM, a bank that supports the financing of United States goods and services, Reta Jo Lewis.

In May, the United States government signed an investment agreement with the State in the areas of renewable energy, worth 900 million dollars.

The talks, which involve the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, and the Minister of Energy and Water, João Batista Borges, will focus on Angola's energy security, the energy transition and decarbonization objectives, including critical minerals, as well as increasing access to energy and electricity production.
