The kidnapping took place 18 years ago, according to Public Television of Angola (TPA), which states that at just four years old, Albertina was kidnapped by an unknown woman on one of the streets in Malanje province.
Albertina, also known as Fani, ended up being taken to a place she didn't know about. According to the young woman, people were looking for her, but the kidnapper hid the young girl.
"People actually came looking for me, but she hid me. I didn't go out of the house", she said, adding that when they knocked on the door and asked about the child she said that there were "no children" there, although the neighbors said the opposite.
According to Albertina, whenever they went looking for her, the kidnapper ended up moving house. "Whenever they came looking for me, she changed houses, changed neighborhoods", she said, adding, in statements to TPA, that she did not know that she "had another mother".
Albertina's real family never gave up and continued the search for their daughter, having recently received a tip that the young woman was living in Malanje, close to a football field.
After that, the young woman's mother went to Malanje. "No one needed to show me that this is your daughter, as soon as I arrived, I fell and passed out", said the young woman's mother.
According to the TPA, it was only after people close to her told her that she was missing that Albertina learned that she had lived a lie. However, it was not alone that she found her family again, returning to the family with three children.
"I walked, I was tired and I had already lost hope of finding my family," said the young woman, who, through tears, said she had found her parents.
