In a statement, ANPG states that the well, located in the Kizomba B development area and at a water depth of 1200 meters, was drilled between the months of February and April.
According to the concessionaire, the well is the first drilled within the scope of the preliminary agreements of the Incremental Production Project (PPI), “which is being approved by the Angolan executive”, aiming to provide incentives to investors to produce additional volumes in the concessions currently in production.
Considered one of the most important concessions in the country, Block 15, in 20 years of activity, already has 18 commercial discoveries and is located approximately 145 kilometers west of the coast of the province of Zaire.
ANPG and ExxonMobil, operator of Block 15, signed a letter of agreement last week for the recovery of additional research costs.
According to the concessionaire, in a note also released this Monday, the agreement aims to encourage investors to drill more exploration wells, “with cost recovery being safeguarded, within the scope of the PPI”.
