According to the official, one of the relevant actions taken relates to the fact that the Government decided to guarantee the autonomy and independence of the National Bank of Angola, within the scope of the specific revision process of the Constitution, which took place in 2021.
"The degree of responsibility of SADC central banks in the regional integration process only demonstrates that, in good time, the decision of the Angolan Government, headed by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, to ensure the autonomy and independence of the Nacional de Angola, through a process of Punctual Revision of the Constitution that took place in 2021, resulted in a right decision and within the good practices and recommendations, and today, clearly, we have an independent central bank, whose main mission is the preservation of national currency, therefore being the monetary, exchange rate and macroprudential and resolution authority," he said.
Thus, he referred that without a safe and efficient banking system, the economies of the countries in the region cannot develop in a sustainable and prosperous way.
The "effects of the decisions that will be taken at this meeting will extend to the citizens and peoples of our countries, as monetary and financial products have a great influence on the real economy, job creation and people's income and well-being" , considered the official, quoted by Angop.
