According to a statement issued by the United Nations organization the boxes include products such as therapeutic milk, girth gauge, scales, surgical masks and dewormers and will be distributed this Wednesday at the Hospital Municipal dos Cajueiros, in Cazenga.
The aim is to support the actions to combat malnutrition and strengthen the response of the health sector in the province of Luanda, facing the impact of the pandemic of covid-19.
"This action is part of the activities developed by UNICEF to support the Government to mitigate the impact of covid-19 in the lives of children and ensure that the pandemic crisis does not turn into a crisis of children's rights with incidence in the province of Luanda," stresses the statement, noting that services such as treatment of malnutrition must continue to be ensured to avoid a worsening of the health situation.
The UNICEF action is funded by the Directorate for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection of the European Commission (ECHO) and the Government of Japan.
