Lisboa-Luanda air link in question. Portuguese government warns that TAP's route plan "has no credibility"

TAP has submitted a weekly flight plan which provides for a gradual resumption of operations. This would mark the return of flights between Luanda and Lisbon from 15 June. However, the Portuguese government warned that this plan "has no credibility".

The words are from António Costa, the Portuguese Prime Minister, who, after being notified of the phased return of the operations of the Portuguese airline, came to warn that the return of flights may not be soon.

"No route plan defined by TAP has credibility without prior information on the border reopening strategy defined by the Portuguese Republic," said the Portuguese governor in a Twitter publication.

António Costa also stressed that TAP's Executive Committee must take into consideration the "legal duties of prudent and responsible management, which are not compatible with the definition, disclosure and promotion of route plans whose viability depends on the sovereign will of the Republic in managing its borders".

TAP's route plan provided for the return of the air route between the Portuguese capital and Luanda on 15 June. However, this return may be delayed for a while.

Not only has the Portuguese government challenged this plan, but Angola is also living with some restrictions on its borders: Angola is only letting humanitarian flights in with prior authorization. This would make it difficult for TAP to enter Luanda on a normal and regular basis.
