"This is a challenge that we have, not only for TAAG and TACV [Transportadora Aérea Cabo-verdiana], but for the two peoples, in this case our three peoples, Angola, São Tomé and Cape Verde", stated António dos Santos Domingos, after the meeting in Mindelo, São Vicente island.
TAAG suspended direct flights between Luanda and Praia at the end of 2016, with a stop in São Tomé and Príncipe, claiming that the route was not profitable.
The airline's president said that it will receive new aircraft between July and September and from then on he will be able to say "the specific day" of resuming operations.
Asked about the nature of the operation, the same person in charge said that the company is in contact, explaining that economic issues "weigh heavily" on the frequency of calls.
"We are in negotiations with TACV to find the best frequency", he said.
TACV makes international connections with Lisbon (Portugal), Paris (France) and Bergamo (Italy), with two planes, one of which has been leased since March 2022 to the Angolan counterpart TAAG.
António dos Santos Domingos said that the leasing contract with the Cape Verdean company will be renewed for another year.
