Urban intervention project recovers historic street of the city of Luanda

Safeguarding public heritage, creating jobs and promoting economic and social development through urban mobility and sustainability are the main objectives of an urban intervention project that provides for the recovery of a historic street in downtown Luanda.

The #NOSSAGINGA project, which was presented this Thursday, aims at the social and urban requalification of Rainha Ginga street in its entirety from Baleizão to Largo do Ambiente in a total of 2.5 kilometers divided into seven sections, with distinct identities.

In addition to the historical and cultural recovery of this street, the objectives are collaborative socio-environmental development and sustainable economic growth to improve the living conditions of the local community, aiming to increase the capacity to attract investment.

The project also presents itself as a public asset with the ability to attract investment, residents and visitors through communication and human activation, resulting in the continuous progress of the locality itself.

Rua Rainha Ginga, once known as Salvador Correia Street and Restauradores Avenue is the main social, economic and cultural artery of the capital, serving as a connection point for vital areas between several areas of the center.

"Its historical and social importance, together with its current state of degradation, opens a window of opportunities for deep research with the aim of solving and seeking solutions for the general community, making this space a destination for fun, animation, leisure and business, leveraging social, cultural inclusion and tourism, resulting in the appreciation of the low capital of our country", the project promoters (A DO LADO B, in partnership with NOANCE STUDIO), in a statement.

The focus will be on improving the use of public spaces, stimulating new habits of urban coexistence and creating green spaces, culture and art to promote the inclusion of all in quality public spaces.
