According to the latest epidemiological bulletin, 187 cases of cholera were reported in the last 24 hours, 67 in the province of Cuanza Norte, 55 in the province of Luanda, 29 in the province of Bengo, 14 in the province of Icolo and Bengo, 13 in the province of Benguela, eight in the province of Malanje and one in the province of Cuanza Sul.
During this period, eight deaths were recorded, four in the province of Cuanza Norte, three in Luanda and one in Bengo.
Last weekend, 16 people died in the Luinha area, in the municipality of Cazengo, Cuanza Norte, leading authorities to impose a sanitary cordon and suspend rail transport at several stations in the affected region to prevent the spread of the disease.
The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, and the governor of Cuanza Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, guarantee that the outbreak is under control, and a vaccination campaign is underway that has already covered 200 people.
In the last 24 hours, 96 people were discharged and currently, 176 people are hospitalized with cholera.
