According to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, to which VerAngola had access, the document was signed by Manuel Homem and his Turkish counterpart, Ali Yerlikaya.
"The Draft Cooperation Agreement in the field of Security and Internal Order has been officially signed, a document signed by the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Gomes da Conceição Homem, and the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Turkey, Ali Yerlikaya, and is the high point of the visit, in terms of relations between the two peoples", reads the statement from the ministry.
The agreement, which was signed at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Turkey, "strengthens collaboration in the police, criminal investigation, migration, penitentiary system and civil protection and fire services sectors, promoting the exchange of experiences and technical training between the two countries, and reinforces the commitment to implementing joint actions in various strategic areas of security and internal order, to face common challenges, ensuring greater efficiency and modernisation of public security services", adds the ministry.
In addition to the signing of the legal instrument, Thursday was also marked by a meeting between Manuel Homem and Ali Yerlikaya.
"The official meeting between the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Gomes da Conceição Homem, and the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Turkey, Ali Yerlikaya, took place in the early afternoon of Thursday, March 20, at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Turkey", the ministry said.
Manuel Homem's agenda in Turkey has been quite busy, with the minister having already visited the Special Operations Department of the Turkish National Police, the Turkish National Police Academy, the ASELSAN company, among others.
During his trip to Turkey, the Minister of the Interior also visited the headquarters of the Migration and Foreigners Service in Ankara, as well as the infrastructure of the Ankara Aerospace Industry.
