SME resumes normality in issuing passports

The problem related to issuing passports was overcome, with the Deputy Director General of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), Commissioner Tomé Cuanga João, ensuring that the service is returning to its normal operation, after resolving the lack of banknote stock of the document.

:

After the issuing service returned to normality, "we no longer have passports to be issued over a period of 30 days", said the official, who was speaking this Wednesday, at the end of the opening ceremony of the year of instruction and patriotic education 2023 of the said body, which took place at the National School of Migration.

As an example, the Deputy Director General of the SME, quoted by Jornal de Angola, said that 60,000 passports are waiting for collection at the agency's service posts in Luanda.

He also took the opportunity to mention that the SME still has concerns, some of which are of a structural nature, adding that, at its level, they have been resolved, writes Jornal de Angola.

Thus, he presented as an example the migratory control of the borders, which, for him, has not yet been carried out in the most adequate way due to the lack of personnel. Cited by Jornal de Angola, he also added that, to reverse this scenario, with regard to illegal immigration, the competent authorities, including the SME and the Police, "have done everything" to reduce "the level of violation of borders".

Among other matters, the official also took the opportunity to point out the new year of instruction and patriotic education as a huge challenge for the body, emphasizing the importance of training in order to have sufficient and competent human resources, writes Jornal de Angola.
