According to Deputy Director General of Traffic and Road Safety, Deputy Commissioner, Pinduca Marques, statistics indicate that in January there were 990 accidents, which resulted in 168 deaths and 1,152 injuries.
In February, the country recorded 884 accidents, resulting in 133 deaths and 952 injuries.
"There is no other message than that of defensive driving, it is that driving in which even having priorities, such as when facing a green light, I still have to pay due attention to other citizens who do not comply with the rules and some who do not know the rules," said Pinduca Marques, speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola.
In 2022, according to data from the National Police, Angola recorded 2999 deaths and 15,693 injuries from a total of 13,360 road accidents, which means an average of eight deaths and 43 injuries per day.
