In a note made available on its Facebook, the Ministry of the Interior explains that this new unit "has replaced the old operative units, integrating mixed forces, especially the cavalry, synotechnics and motorcycle brigade and will be in all provinces, whose mission is to intervene throughout the the territory of the province, whenever it is triggered".
According to the note, the Minister of the Interior considered that the infrastructure will "give dignity and quality to the service provided for the satisfaction of the citizen".
"The commander of the unit now inaugurated has the responsibility to take care of and preserve this heritage well so that it can serve the population for a longer time", said Eugénio Laborinho.
The official also took the opportunity to thank the provincial governor for his support: "Our word of gratitude goes to the provincial government which has unconditionally provided the necessary support to public security bodies".
The minister, quoted by Angop, clarified that these units represent a new modality, taking into account the current scenario, integrating all components of police intervention.
In turn, Luís Nunes, governor of Benguela, also quoted by Angop, considered that these new units will allow for a more dignified work for the security forces as well as improve the security of citizens.
