ATROMA source told Lusa that the strike was suspended on Monday, for four days, following a meeting with the operators, with a new meeting scheduled for Thursday in the province of Uíge, to report on the ongoing negotiations.
Truck drivers complain about the difference in customs fees charged in Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRCongo).
"We removed the trucks and at the moment they are circulating normally, both the Congolese and the Angolans, but we continue to pay the 4000 dollars", informed the same source.
Angolan trucks pay 4000 dollars at the DRCongo customs post compared to 100 dollars for their Congolese counterparts at the Angolan border, according to information from ATROMA.
The trucks had been stopped since Saturday at the customs containment post in Nkoko, commune of Luvo, municipality of Mbanza Congo, province of Zaire, on the border with DRCongo.
On Thursday, ATROMA's management will have a meeting in Uíge chaired by a ministerial entity to monitor negotiations regarding tariffs.
According to the president of the National Land Transport Agency, Énio Costa, cited by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), the two countries signed an agreement with an implementation period of two years to harmonize customs fees.
"We haven't received this agreement yet, we haven't seen any documents yet, but I think Thursday's meeting will be definitive," the ATROMA source told Lusa.
