Opening of the 2024 judicial year scheduled for Friday

This Friday (1 March), the Supreme Court will open the 2024 judicial year, in an act subordinated to the motto “For the achievement of financial autonomy and modernization of judicial activity”.

According to the Supreme Court, the ceremony will take place in Luanda, more specifically at the Intercontinental Hotel.

As part of the opening of the judicial year, the new headquarters of the Viana District Court was inaugurated this Wednesday.

On the occasion, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Marcy Lopes, said that the Executive will continue to work to improve the working and accommodation conditions of justice bodies.

Quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, to which VerAngola had access, Marcy Lopes also said that, in order to "comply with the law that approves the new judicial map until 2027, infrastructures of this kind will be built and other rehabilitated" throughout the country, aiming to "give better working conditions and more dignity to justice operators, in a close partnership with the Superior Council of the Judiciary".

The holder of the Justice and Human Rights portfolio also took the opportunity to appeal for the "conservation and good use of the Viana District Court, which is being considered the most modern Court, built in the country in the post-independence period", reads the communicated.

The Viana District Court, as the name suggests, is located in the municipality of Viana. Occupying an area of 1200 square meters, this court has five floors and is divided into 99 compartments, ranging from offices for judicial magistrates, courtrooms, judicial registry offices and support areas.
