:

According to Teatrão, applications for Fantasia Futurista, "an initiative that aims to encourage, stimulate and enhance the creation of unpublished theatrical texts in Portuguese, involving all Portuguese-speaking countries", must be submitted by March 10th.

Authors must be aged 21 or over at the time of application and reside in Portuguese-speaking countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, East Timor and Equatorial Guinea.

The project will have several implementation phases and "some dose of unpredictability", since "its second part depends on the quality of the texts produced, but it is also a theatrical edition project". "It will still be, if possible, the assembly project and presentation of these texts on stage".

The writer Valério Romão is the guest curator for the development of the writing phase, having developed, at the invitation of Teatrão, "a synopsis that starts from the initial idea and serves as a motto and provocation for the writing".

The playwrights who sign up will develop a synopsis and the five best will be chosen, who "will receive a small creation grant", worth 250 euros per month, during the following six months, at the end of which they will deliver the complete texts.

Teatrão hopes that the results will allow the editing and staging of these texts in the coming years, by the company itself or by associated structures. According to the regulation, this "may or may not happen", depending "on the conditions and circumstances gathered".

Also according to the document, the selection and dissemination of the five best applications will take place until June 9, while the evaluation and 'feedback' of the synopses for the development of the respective dramaturgies will take place until July 21.

"The deadline for submitting written texts is November 10th and the results will be published by January 19th, 2024", he informed.

The launch of the book with the selected dramaturgies and the possible premiere of one or more creations should take place "during the first half of 2024".

Fantasia Futurista was conceived by Teatrão and has a partnership with Instituto Camões.

The competition jury is made up of the playwrights Valério Romão and Jorge Louraço Figueira, the artistic directors of the project, Isabel Craveiro and Marco António Rodrigues, and a representative of the Camões Institute.
