UNITA deputy Alcides Sakala condemned this Friday the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, considering that “no one can remain indifferent to the violent events” that occur in that “sovereign country and friend of Angola”.

Alcides Sakala, deputy of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola, said in the National Assembly (parliament) that Ukraine "is being a victim of Russia's political hegemony".

"We must therefore condemn violence in Ukraine, wherever it comes from", defended the deputy during the discussion of the draft resolution that approves, for ratification, the Agreement on Mobility between the Member States of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP).

For the specialist in international relations, mobility is a factor of "freedom, peace, progress and cooperation between peoples", for this reason, he stressed, "no one can remain indifferent to the violent events that occur in Ukraine".

On Thursday, Russia launched a military offensive in Ukraine, with ground forces and bombing targets in several cities, which has already caused at least more than 120 deaths, including civilians, and hundreds of wounded, in Ukrainian territory, according to Kiev. . Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the "special military operation" in Ukraine aims to "demilitarize and denazify" its neighbor and that it was the only way for the country to defend itself. of its "results" and "relevance".

The attack was condemned by the international community in general and prompted emergency meetings of several governments, including the Portuguese, and of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the European Union (EU) and the UN Security Council, with sanctions being approved. en masse against Russia.
