MEP wants to make the Public-Private Partnerships model more effective

The Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis, informed that the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) intends to make the Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) model more effective. In this sense, the authority is promoting training for a hundred technicians representing entities involved in the process of preparing, negotiating, approving and monitoring PPPs.

Speaking at the presentation of the biweekly briefing in the field of Planning and cited in a note made available on the website of the tutelage, the secretary made it known that since last Monday the ministry has been promoting training, whose motto is "Unlocking and Implementing the PPPs in Angola – Projects focusing on Sustainable Development goals".

According to the official, the training, which is taking place in a virtual format, has the participation of "100 technicians representing entities involved in the process of preparing, negotiating, approving and monitoring PPPs, namely, the coordinating ministerial departments (Ministry of of Economy and Planning and Ministry of Finance), the different sectoral ministerial departments, the Court of Auditors and other interested entities".

Milton Reis also underlined that with this training, the MEP aims to "endow participants with knowledge and skills that allow them to understand the PPP model and work with them effectively".

He also informed that the training will discuss topics such as the "project identification process aimed at improving the population's quality of life, improving the efficiency of services and physical structures with the implementation of projects in the form of public-private partnerships, responsibilities of the public partner and the private partner in the implementation of public-private partnership projects and others".

The secretary, cited by Angop, also took the opportunity to mention that the Report on the Execution Balance of the National Development Plan 2018-2022 – which reports on the implementation and performance of the 70 PDN action programs up to 2021 – has been completed, technical level and that the Process of Elaboration of the Executive Macroeconomic Programming (PME) for this year is in its final phase.
