AIPEX registers more than 400 private investment projects in the country

The Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) registered 444 private investment projects from August 2018 to December 31, 2021, of which 118 have already been approved.

The chairman of the Board of Directors of AIPEX, António Henriques da Silva, who was speaking this Friday during 'CaféCIPRA', explained that "a registered project does not necessarily mean that it has been implemented, but counts as statistical information for understanding different models that exist to monitor its final implementation".

Of the 444 projects registered, there are still 312 in the implementation phase, two to be implemented, 11 canceled and one suspended.

The AIPEX official revealed that the projects amount to around US$4,512 million, which he considers a positive indicator from the point of view of the impact of activities outside the non-oil sector.

António Henriques da Silva also said that the United Arab Emirates, China, Germany, France, Belgium, Hong Kong, Portugal, Eritrea and Switzerland are the countries with the highest volume of investments.

In the Luanda / Bengo Special Economic Zone, he said, 131 industrial units are installed, of which 75 are in operation, including 13 factory units from scratch and 12 under implementation.

"We emphasize the effect that had on the growth of employability. In these four years there was a growth of 63.4 percent in new jobs. In other words, we went from 3850 to 6800 jobs", he said, in a statement that had access.

António Henriques da Silva also said that there are already companies installed in the Special Economic Zone making exports. "Part of these projects also already have an export component, which is healthy. And if we take into account regional and even continental integration, this could contribute even more to the inflow of foreign exchange and the substitution of imports".

These advances, according to António Henriques da Silva, are the result of the improvement in the business environment and the reduction of bureaucratic procedures, within the framework of the reforms underway in the country.

"Economic Diplomacy: balance and perspectives" was the topic addressed in the first edition of CaféCIPRA, a space for dialogue created by the Press Center of the President of the Republic of Angola (CIPRA).
