According to a video released by the provincial government of Malanje, to which VerAngola had access, the event will take place in the municipality of Kiwaba Nzoji, in Malanje.
This year, the celebrations aim to mark 64 years "of the struggle to resist colonial occupation".
This, says the video, was an "act of patriotism and heroism that included the participation of fearless Angolan citizens, including the martyrs of colonial repression, in Baixa de Cassanje".
It is worth remembering that the day of the Martyrs of Colonial Repression was created to honor the victims of the Baixa de Cassanje Massacre.
January 4, 1961 was marked by the beginning of the struggle against the colonial regime. The rebellion of workers at a company that operated cotton fields in Baixa de Cassanje is considered the first confrontation against Portuguese colonism, in which several people died.
