The project, which should last approximately 20 months, does not yet have a specific start date. However, the person responsible – in statements to Rádio Huíla, as part of his visit to the province of Huíla for an observation visit, cited by Angop – indicated that the works will begin this year.
In terms of jobs, he said, initially 4000 jobs will be created, but this number will double with the start of the exploration phase.
According to Henriques Kiaco, who did not disclose the value of the investment made by the Turkish company, the conditions are being created to move forward with the construction of the plant.
"We are now at a stage of creating the conditions to start the construction of the ore treatment plant, that is, the washing plant, a place for processing useful iron and that which is rejected", he stated, quoted by Angop.
At the time, he also considered that the project is of "extreme" relevance, as it contributes to the acceleration of the country's economy.
According to Angop, when the washing plant is ready it will be capable of processing 1,700,000 tons of iron per year, which will be transported via the Moçâmedes Railway to Namibe, where it will then be exported.
It should be noted that the Cassinga project, which includes the Cassinga and Cateruca mines, has a potential of 15 million iron.
