Angola and Tanzania strengthen cooperation with the signing of four memoranda

Angola and Tanzania reinforced bilateral cooperation this Tuesday by signing four legal instruments that aim to deepen exchanges between the two countries.

Signatories of the memoranda were Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, January Yusuf Makamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Eastern Communities, and Ummy Mwalimu, Minister of Health, for Tanzania.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, the signing of the documents took place in Zanzibar. "As part of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Angola and the United Republic of Tanzania, four legal instruments were signed this Tuesday morning in Zanzibar to deepen exchanges between the two countries", reads if in the note.

The instruments concern the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Oil and Gas, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Visa Exemption in Diplomatic, Service/Official Passports, Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Health and the Process Verbal of the 2nd Session of the Bilateral Joint Commission between the Republic of Angola and the United Republic of Tanzania".

The document relating to the oil and gas field aims to establish a "general framework to encourage mutual cooperation" in this field, "in addition to sharing knowledge and experiences in the management and development of the oil and gas industry".

Furthermore, the statement adds, this instrument also aims to promote "cooperation and collaboration in the fields of oil and gas exploration, strengthen the technical capacity of national staff in the field of the oil and gas industry, as well as exchange of information, data and business opportunities related to the oil and gas industry".

The document relating to visa exemption aims to "exempt the visa requirement between citizens of the two countries holding the aforementioned passports, facilitating their travel".

In turn, the memorandum in the field of health aims to "strengthen cooperation and capabilities in terms of training human resources, including specialized services".

It also provides for the "exchange of specialized knowledge in organ and tissue transplantation, as well as in the field of assisted reproductive technologies, creation of resilient and sustainable systems in matters of reproductive, maternal and child mortality through best practices, and promoting cooperation in research and innovation in the field of public health".

Furthermore, this document also provides for the exchange of experiences and practices with regard to "vector control and malaria, development of an exchange program in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy, as well as the production of orthoses and prosthetics", the statement reads.

It should also be noted that Zanzibar, in Tanzania, received, this Tuesday, the second Session of the Bilateral Joint Commission between Angola and Tanzania, which takes place 35 years after the first, held in Dar-es-Salaam, in which both countries "laid the first stone aimed at establishing a bilateral consultation mechanism at diplomatic level, in order to promote and expand economic, social, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation and instruct a bilateral commission".
