Young Angolans on their way to the USA to participate in an academic and professional exchange program

Four young Angolans traveled to the United States of America (USA) in order to participate in one of the most competitive academic and professional exchange programs offered by the US government, called 'Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI)’.

The quartet, which left Luanda this Tuesday, is made up of young Timóteo Quifica (Luanda), Clara Sessa (Benguela), Adilson Kassanga (Huíla) and Chelsia Dala (Luanda), according to a note from the American embassy in Angola, which VerAngola had access.

"The Study of American Institutes Program (SUSI), for university student leaders, is an intensive academic program whose objective is to provide a better understanding of American society and simultaneously increase the leadership skills of the participants", indicates the note.

The document explains that the Institutes refer to "short-term academic programs of approximately five weeks", which include "intensive courses, exchanges with local communities, cultural experiences and community service".

The program – which started this Tuesday, January 10th, and will run until February 15th, in the USA – is free and funded by the US government, the note said.
