Police investigate kidnapping of humorist Gilmário Vemba

Police are investigating the kidnapping of comedian Gilmário Vemba and his daughters on Thursday night in Luanda, from which they escaped unharmed after three cell phones and bank cards were stolen, it was announced.

The information was provided by the spokesperson for the Luanda Provincial Command of the National Police, Nestor Goubel, stating that the kidnapping and theft of the humorist's belongings took place in the centrality of Kilamba, municipality of Belas.

According to the police officer, four men who were being transported in a vehicle approached the comedian and his daughters at around 10 pm local time and, under firearm threats, took them to Golf 2, municipality of Kilamba Kiaxi.

In a deserted location, the suspects collected three cell phones and two bank cards and fled, abandoning the comedian and his daughters on the spot.

"At this point, they are on the run and efforts are continuing to locate and detain these alleged perpetrators," said the police spokesman in Luanda.
The kidnapping of Gilmário Vemba, also known to the Portuguese public, generated a wave of commotion and solidarity on social media.

Gilmário is a former member of the comedy group "Os Tuneza" which, on social media, shared photos in which the comedian and his ex-partners expressed their joy at having escaped the kidnapping unscathed.
