According to Nestor Goubel, the 26-year-old suspect was arrested in possession of a folder containing copper wires taken from electrical cables from lighting poles, knocked down on the public road.
Nestor Goubel mentioned that the cables would be sold in junkyard weighing houses.
"The arrest was made in coordination with a Criminal Investigation Brigade, within the scope of combating crimes of vandalizing public assets, a fact that has been recurrent in that area of Camama", he underlined.
The spokesman stressed that the detainee confessed to the crime, adding that he has already carried out the same actions in the company of other people.
Investigation continues to arrest other elements involved in the crime, as well as the buyers of the stolen material.
The phenomenon of vandalization of public assets in Angola is beginning to take on worrying contours, as government authorities have repeatedly stated.
At the beginning of this year, ten people were arrested for these practices and referred to the Public Ministry for criminal liability.
"For some time now, some areas of Luanda are in the dark and this does not imply that the State has not put lighting there, but what has happened is that there are individuals who have been dilapidating, knocking down, these electric poles, as well as vandalizing other public media as well," he said, appealing to citizens to denounce them.
