Angolan detained at Luanda airport with 35 cocaine capsules

A 46 year-old Angolan woman was arrested on Thursday at Luanda International Airport with 35 cocaine capsules, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) announced this Friday.

The woman, a street vendor, born in Bucuzau, Cabinda province, and resident in Luanda, was transporting the drug, in a disguised way, in the thorax region and was arrested when she disembarked from the National Airline TAAG Angola Airlines flight DT-748, coming from the city of Guarulhos, São Paulo (Brazil).

"After landing, and due to duly justified suspicion, the citizen was submitted to a physical search, where it was determined to be in possession, in the region of the thorax, dissimulated in the nipples, five packs with capsules, coated with black tape, containing inside, drugs (cocaine), and another oval-shaped, also dissimulated, making the total weight of five hundred and seventy-one grams (571gr)," revealed the SIC.

According to the authorities, the woman confessed that she "had been living off cocaine for a long time" and that she traveled to Brazil on December 11 for the purpose of transporting the drug, as she was in contact with a Brazilian citizen with whom she made the deal.

The goal was to sell the drug and as a reward would profit one million five hundred thousand kwanzas. The remainder would be exchanged in U.S. dollars to reach her friend who lives in the city of Guarulhos, Brazil, added in the statement of the SIC.

The woman arrested will be presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office for criminal accountability, while proceedings continue for the capture of others involved in this crime.
