Judo: country marks presence at the world championship in the United Arab Emirates

Four Angolan judokas will represent the country's colors at the judo world championships, which will take place between the 19th and 24th of May, in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. These are Edmilson Pedro, in the -66 kilograms category, Leonel Barros, in the -60 kilograms category, Maria Niang, in the -70 kilograms category, and Piter Shuma, in the +100 kilograms category.

To this end, it was this Thursday that the senior national judo team traveled towards the competition, whose national delegation is headed by Gildo Santo, president of the Angolan Judo Federation.

According to Angop, the first Angolan judoka to enter the scene will be Leonel Barros, on the first day of the event. On the 21st of May it will be Edmilson Pedro's turn, while Maria Niang will compete on the 23rd of this month.

In turn, Piter Shuma's arrival on the scene takes place on the last day of the championship.

The preparation of the chosen athletes is being carried out at their respective schools, under the supervision of coaches Alexandre Martins and Arminda Agostinho.

According to Angop, Leonel Barros, Piter Shuma and Edmilson Pedro will try to score points, aiming to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held from July in France.
