"At this moment, we (...) have already performed more than 300 highly complex surgeries", pointed out the surgeon, speaking to Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA).
The specialist explained that a complex surgery is when the "surgeon has adrenaline on top of the tip of the hair", repeating that more than 300 of this type have been performed.
At the time, he explained that just this week they had "a very complex surgery" not because of the size, but "because of the area where the lesion was located", taking "close to five hours in this surgery alone".
Eduardo Quedissoba also highlighted the quality of the unit, highlighting that they have "nothing to envy" foreign hospitals, noting that they have already had the opportunity to visit hospitals in Brazil and Portugal.
"We have nothing to envy hospitals abroad, luckily we have already been to hospitals like Hospital das Clínicas in Brazil, we were at the IPO in Porto, in private units in Porto in Portugal", he said, in statements to TPA.
With a capacity for 200 beds, Hospital Geral do Bengo has more than 15 medical specialties and 12 in training. Among the specialties, the hemodialysis unit stands out, which patient Francisca Borges said was a "blessing".
The general director of the unit, Geovani Malega, highlighted some of the strengths of the hospital unit. "It's a hospital that has to deal with high complexity, we are equipped for this, we have modern imaging, we have CT scan equipment, we have around seven ultrasound machines, we have mammography that is capable of detecting tumors smaller than one millimeter, we have fluoroscopy For contrast exams, we also have modern ophthalmology," he told TPA.
In addition to specialties, the unit has, for example, a kitchen, hospital gas production factory, etc.
Remember that this hospital was inaugurated in November last year by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
