Education at the center of the Government’s priorities for the next four years

The indication of education as the main priority of the Government for the referred period was made by the Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário João, who, speaking at the end of a meeting with Ivan Yerovi, representative of UNICEF in Angola, referred to the qualification of human capital as the first axis of the NDP's vision.

Cited by Angop, Mário João clarified that the focus is on improving the level of learning of students at all levels of education, improving the quality of teachers, administrators and school infrastructure, as well as remodeling the education strategy in Angola.

He also admitted the qualification of the personnel as the foundation for a more sustainable socio-economic development, writes Angop.

"Angola wants to bring the best practices into the light of international experience, without losing sight of the local reality and needs, which must be looked at in a dispassionate way, that is, in the most objective way possible", he said, quoted by Angop.

The holder of the Economy and Planning portfolio also took the opportunity to leave an invitation to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to participate in the process of "building" the program in question.

According to Ivan Yerovi, UNICEF accepted the challenge and offered its partnership, having indicated its priorities for the new time of collaboration, going through five pillars, writes Angop.

With a completion date scheduled for March next year, the future NDP, according to Angop, has the collaboration of provincial governments, ministerial departments, as well as national and international partners for development (which include the United Nations agencies that operate in the country).
