Federation ensures that Pedro Gonçalves remains in the national football team

Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves will continue in charge of the Angolan football team, confirmed the president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Artur Almeida e Silva.

At a press conference in Luanda, Artur Almeida e Silva assured the continuation of the Portuguese coach, 45 years old, as coach of the 'Palancas Negras', after ending his contract with the FAF last November.

"The continuity of the coach is a fact. The project we have is a team for the future and the coach is Pedro Gonçalves. At the moment, we are working on the contractual aspects and, in January, we will confirm it. It will be a contract. by objectives. At the moment, we have several players cataloged at national and international level" said the manager.

In turn, Pedro Gonçalves assumed the ambition of promoting Angolan players. "What we think about is a process and what we aspire to is to enhance the values ​​that Angola possesses", he referred.

In November, Pedro Gonçalves considered leaving the national football team, due to seven months of salary arrears, and also recalled the administrative and financial problems facing the FAF.

Angola failed to qualify for the third African qualifying round for the Mundial2022, finishing fourth in Group F, with five points, nine less than Egypt.
