It should be noted that Angolans were recognized in different categories. According to a note quoted by Angop, the environmentalist was elected in 'Politics and Governance' and the activist was designated in the category 'Humanitarianism, Activism and Religion'.

Starting last Friday (September 30th), the 2022 Recognition Week, taking place in New York (United States of America), will run until this Tuesday, October 4th, with the theme " Celebrating five years of global black stories of excellence, authenticity and passion."

According to Angop, the realization of a workshop on leadership, interactive panels and the presentation of the film "The Lost History of the Transatlantic Slave Trade" are foreseen in the programme.

The honorees, according to MIPAD – an initiative that recognizes great filmmakers of African descent in the world –, will earn certificates of official recognition, framed in the celebration of five years of work in aid of the International Decade for Afro-descendants (2015 to 2024), as announced in Resolution 68/237 of the UN General Assembly, writes Angop.

The event aims to pay tribute to outstanding personalities and great filmmakers of African descent in the world for their tributes.
