Mário de Oliveira, who was speaking this Monday after being sworn in by the President, said: "[criticism] is an activity that does not scare us, it helps us to improve and when constructive for progress it is always a healthy activity".
"But we must bear in mind that it will not be the media that will organize and produce activities to be disseminated, organizations, of a political or social nature, need to produce acts that ensure that there is coverage of the organs", he replied to Lusa, when asked about the alleged lack of contradictory in public bodies.
"And so in this sense we do not have any question, and to say that the media will continue to be a communication for everyone", he assured.
Speaking at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, where the new government was sworn in (2022-2027), Mário de Oliveira recalled that, in the previous term, Angola had a "significant rise" in the ranking of transparency in the media.
"And this rise is a consequence of the opening that took place during the previous legislature, which is to continue", he promised.
Opposition political parties and various sectors of civil society have repeatedly criticized the alleged impartial stance of the public media in "favoring" the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA).
The increase in the coverage of media services throughout the territory is also part of the intentions of Mário de Oliveira, who in the outgoing government held the position of Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies.
"We want to increase the coverage of services throughout the national territory, which is an activity that has already been developed in the previous executive, we want to invest very seriously in the training of our staff", he pointed out.
For the telecommunications and information technology subsector, the official guaranteed a serious commitment aimed at expanding the network in the 18 provinces.
"We are going to bet very seriously on the issue of expanding telecommunications throughout the country, at the moment we have mobile telephony coverage in the order of 49 percent, it is necessary to raise this level to higher levels", he noted.
He also highlighted the need for investments in cybersecurity and data protection as "very important items for the life of the country".
"We will seriously bet on our conditions so that our networks, companies and services are increasingly secure in the field of cybersecurity", said Mário de Oliveira, referring above all to a bet on young people "to increase digital literacy for rational and consciously use social networks for the benefit of society".
