IFC willing to work with Angola to make “market more attractive” for private investment

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) was willing to work with Angola, in order to help in “ongoing initiatives to make Angola a more attractive and competitive market for private investment”.

IFC's availability as Angola's "key partner" appears in a letter from the corporation sent to President João Lourenço, with the intention of congratulating him on having been re-elected.

In the document, quoted by Jornal de Angola, Makhtar Diop, managing director of the entity, also highlighted the peaceful and orderly environment in which the electoral process took place.

The official says he is "convinced that the continuation of the reform program that you initiated will contribute to sustainable growth, anchored in the development of the private sector, which is the focus of our institution".

"You can count on IFC as a key partner to support your priorities, including ongoing initiatives to make Angola a more attractive and competitive market for private investment," adds the letter, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

The corporation, which is a member of the World Bank Group, also considered that relations between itself and the Angolan Executive can be strengthened in favor of companies and society.

He also left his wishes for "success" for the new term: "I wish you success in this second term and, therefore, count on the availability of our team in Luanda, to support you and the Government of Angola, in the materialization of the objectives of building a more prosperous and inclusive society", can be read in the document, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

IFC was created in 1956 and is a global entity dedicated to the private sector in developing countries.
